Kew's annual party for the planet celebrates best year ever!
The feel good factor will be riding high at Kew’s “Summer Swing” open-air concert series, as it celebrates its best ever year. Set in front of Kew’s stunning Temperate House, the annual party for the planet, which raises money to support the Royal Botanic Gardens’ vital global research, education and conservation work, has been running for over 25 years.
Opening and closing the series is Summer Swing regular Jools Holland, appearing with his sensational 18-piece Rhythm & Blues Orchestra together with special guest Lulu. (Tues 10 July & Sat 14 July SOLD OUT).
Kew have also just announced that Ben Ellis, semi-finalist in Andrew Lloyd Webber and BBC1’s recent show Any Dream Will Do, is to star as “Patrick Swayze” in The Music of Dirty Dancing (Wed 11 July). Ben joins a company of top West End singers, dancers and live band who will perform all 26 timeless tunes from the enduringly popular chick-flick Dirty Dancing. ‘Hungry Eyes’, ‘Do You Love Me’, ‘Will You Love Me Tomorrow’ and the immortal ‘I’ve Had the Time of My Life’. A handful of tickets are still on sale for this show.
The series also features sold out shows by the AllStars and Björn Again (Thurs 12 July) and by Eliades Ochoa, Star of the Buena Vista Social Club and top Cuban band Buena Fe, (Fri 13 July) coming back for the second consecutive year.
