New company with interesting twist on how food is sold
My Secret Kitchen is the UK’s first nationwide food and drink tasting company. The big idea is that rather than invite people round to look at lingerie or sniff some scent, it would be great to invite them round for something they can REALLY enjoy - food
Clare and Phil Moran wanted to set up a company that could really make a change to people’s lives, whether attending an event, hosting a tasting or setting up your own business as a My Secret Kitchen consultant. The company’s big idea is pretty simple. Produce a range of great tasting, unusual foods and ingredients that have a number of uses to them and sell them directly into peoples homes via tastings, with the help of a number of independent, like-minded consultants.
Clare’s background is very much about food, having completed a degree in Food Science and experience with a large seasonings manufacturer in the development kitchens, most importantly though, is the creative flair, which has helped give an unusual twist to a lot of the products. Phil has spent most of his working life selling flavours and seasonings around the world, but he has always had a curiosity of how different foods would sell in the UK, which again has influenced some of the products that Clare has developed.
Clare and Phil have two children, William 4, and Bailey age 2. Further inspiration came from this. Most families get stuck into the rut of the same meals every week in a steady rotation and Clare wanted the My Secret Kitchen range of products to help the typical family make everyday meals so much more interesting. So the challenge was put down for all products in the range to have at least 5 different uses to them.
The products come ready to use, or require the addition of just one or two other ingredients. The range is made up of a core selection of items, such as the Beer Bread Mix and Chilii chocolate fondueThese are complemented by seasonal products that are introduced twice a year, for example, the Blueberry, Acai and Elderflower drizzle.
All products are free of artificial colours or flavours and the company strongly believes in an authentic, sustainable spirit of business.
