Motorised mounts from Erard provide remote control positioning of flat screen TVs

A range of remotely operated motorised mounting systems for flat screen TVs has been introduced into the UK. The high tech Motion range from Erard combines French elegance with ergonomic design and enables viewers to move their screen to the best viewing angle without leaving their seat.

The advent of flat screen TVs means that there's greater freedom as to where TVs can be located within the home. Erard systems offer an elegant, high quality solution, ranging from wall mounted brackets through to stylish TV stands where the screen can be raised or lowered as well as rotated left and right.

All the Motion models have smooth, quiet running motors, operated by the company's Pilot Motion remote control system. The handheld controller can also operate up to four other home entertainment devices, such as DVD players and set-top boxes.

"These Erard products offer a high level of sophistication and add to the viewing ambience," said Neil Kumar, marketing manager of UK distributors Hypex Electroniques. "They were designed following ergonomic research into how people watch today's flat screen televisions."

Simplest in the Erard Motion range is the Twisto, a wall-mounted motorised bracket made from heavy duty aluminium. TVs can be rotated left or right by +/- 20 degrees for plasma screens or by +/- 30 degrees for LCD screens.

At the top end of the range is the Kubik Twist & Lift. This is an attractive twin glass plate table, with the TV mounted on a rear column. As well as rotating left and right, the TV can be raised or lowered by up to 67.5 cm. Movement is ultra-quiet and smooth, with soft start and soft stop speed control for the telescopic column.

Other models in the Motion range include the compact Be Bop Twist, ideal where space is limited, and the Basik Twist, which offers screen rotation but without the height adjustment.

Safety is built in to the Erard Motion system. If the screen meets an obstruction while in motion, the motor stops automatically.
