FOOTBALLERS’ WAGES CAMPAIGN GATHERS PACE
Football supporters from around the world have been quick to lend their support to a campaign aimed at bringing footballers’ salaries back down to earth.
The campaign calling for the introduction of a salary cap into football at www.footballerswages.com has received massive worldwide support since its official launch last week, with supporters keen to make their voices heard in the battle against spiralling ticket prices and predictable football.
UK fans were naturally quick to support the campaign but it is the international response that has demonstrated that sky-high footballers’ wages is an issue that supporters from around the world feel extremely strongly about.
In Italy in particular, Serie ‘A’ fans have pledged their support to the campaign with almost 22% of visits coming from Italian users. German, Swiss, Spanish and Dutch supporters have also had their say despite ticket prices being generally cheaper on the continent than they are in the UK.
Further afield, fans in Los Angeles - home of former England captain David Beckham - have taken a particular interest whilst fans from as far afield as Brazil, Canada, Kuwait, Hong Kong, The United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe have all given their opinions.
Media interest in the campaign has also taken site organisers by surprise. British tabloid 'The Daily Star' posted a full-page article on August 7th whilst Italy’s biggest and most respected sports newspaper 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' has also supported the campaign.
Other organisations to show an interest in the campaign include Setanta Sports, Kerrang Radio, Manchester’s Key 103 and British Pakistani broadcaster DM Digital whilst heated discussions about the campaign have taken place on various football forums and blogs.
And in one final push before the start of the new Premier League season, the team at www.footballerswages.com have made it even easier for fans to spread the word.
FootballersWages.com’s new, free to download banners now make it even easier for site owners, bloggers or forum moderators to tell their users about the campaign.
These easy-to-install banners come in various sizes and will quickly allow your users to sign the petition and support the campaign to end spiralling footballer salaries, ensuring that the game becomes more affordable and more competitive.
