TRIBEWANTED GOES LIVE IN THE UK
The Tribewanted team are holding the 1st ever Tribewanted: LIVE event on the 13-15th June this year, enabling the UK tribe members to continue their Fijian adventure closer to home as well as learning important sustainable techniques.
Ben Keene, co-founder of www.Tribewanted.com, a global search to form the world’s first online and offline tribal community, has announced details of the 1st two Tribewanted: LIVE events this month in Cornwall and the Lake District; including a mix of sustainable education, some adventurous action and a general tribe-like festival.
Tribewanted’s ongoing aim for their amazing adventure, which started in April 2006, is to simultaneously raise awareness about sustainable living through fun and adventurous experiences online and off. Over 500 members have now spent an average of 2 weeks on Vorovoro Island living alongside the indigenous Fijian community to sustainably develop the area.
The launch of Tribewanted: LIVE will be held on the weekend of the 13th June 2008 in Cornwall, home to James Strawbridge. Since his return from Vorovoro 6 months ago he has continued to maintain an eco-friendly, fully sustainable life for himself and his family on their small Cornish farm featured on the BBC series, ‘it’s not easy being green’.
Strawbridge shares his enthusiasm for the event:
“I am extremely excited about the prospect of Tribewanted: LIVE coming to Cornwall! The weather may be very different from the South Pacific but there are many overlaps in the sorts of projects we do here in the UK. Yes, it will be intense. Yes, it will be thought provoking. And yes, it will be a lot of fun!”
Other Tribewanted: LIVE events are planned in the UK, Holland, New Zealand and the USA - in areas where the majority of the members live. Each weekend will have a unique itinerary and will evolve around the ideas tribe members discuss online and at the event.
Ben Keene, co-founder of Tribewanted, comments;
"One of the big challenges for us has been the fact that Vorovoro is about as far away from our own lives here in the UK, physically and mentally, as possible. So with the project ticking along nicely and a full-island I've been focusing on ways we can bring the island experience closer to home. Tribewanted: LIVE does just that.”
Keene continues;
“we are all going to have a fun weekend outdoors, meeting interesting people and hopefully learning something about sustainable living in this country. It won't be like going to a tropical island in Fiji, but a visit to the Eden Projects biodome should help!”
Details of how to get your hands on places to one of the 1st Tribewanted: LIVE events can be found at http://www.tribewanted.com/blog/live-cornwall.
