HumanConcepts Helps London Borough of Newham Implement Change Management Programme

OrgPlus® Charting Software Plays Role in Preparation of 2012 Olympic Games

LONDON —29th January, 2007 — Newham Council, the local authority responsible for providing services and political leadership to more than 250,000 residents of the London Borough of Newham, has successfully implemented a major Change Management programme. The Council used OrgPlus® organisational charting software to build a simplified structure to support an initiative to deliver improved services and an increase in public accessibility. With London scheduled to host the 2012 Olympic Games, the reorganisation also addressed additional service provisions for the expected influx of visiting tourists to the Borough.

As part of the programme, twenty-five revised services replaced six departments. With more than 11,000 employees, the increased structural complexity highlighted Newham Council’s need for organisational management tools. The Council chose OrgPlus software to help facilitate its Change Management programme.

OrgPlus was easily configured to Newham Council’s HR system by the human resources manager. The software automatically generated The Council’s organisational charts which was previously a project for two full-time members of staff. The software created dynamic, easily-updatable charts with detailed data about each member of staff. It managed co-worker and dotted-line relationships and highlighted problems such as unassigned positions. With OrgPlus, The Council’s human resources manager was able provide accurate, detailed information in a simple format to senior managers, enabling them to easily plan and implement the required structural changes.
