Techy geeks go green to save trees on Valentine’s Day

A bunch of techy geeks were so inspired by a campaign to cut back on Valentine’s Day cards and save trees, they developed their own online love card.

The boffins at Scottish software development company T-Enterprise have just launched SendAValentine.co.uk, where anyone can build a free e-card online and e-mail it to someone special.

They read about a recent campaign by Waste Awareness Wales to try and reduce some of the 13 million paper Valentine’s Day cards sent in the UK each year.

Campaigners recommended people send electronic cards instead.

But T-Enterprise’s developers found the electronic cards already online weren’t good enough. And so they worked round the clock to develop their own.

The firm’s MD Sadia Chishti thinks the card is great. She said: “This is the green way to declare your love on Valentine’s Day, without killing a tree. You can’t get more romantic than saving the planet in the name of someone you love.

“Everyone loves getting a Valentine’s card, and we think you should be able to send as many as you like with minimal impact on the environment.

“SendAValentine.co.uk lets you do that. Best of all, because it’s quick and free, you can flirt with as many people as you like… just don’t send the wrong card to the wrong e-mail address.”

The e-card lets you select from a number of backgrounds and romantic pictures, and add your own text.

Unlike most e-cards, you can place items anywhere on the card.

And when it’s finished, it’s easy to save it and send it to someone special.

T-Enterprise is a bespoke software and game development business based in Coatbridge in North Lanarkshire. It employs six people and works with businesses across the UK.
