Cumbria Logistics signs up for CarrierNetOnline transport software service
UK logistics and transport operator Cumbria Logistics of Carlisle, logistics, is the latest company to take advantage of CarrierNetOnline (CNO), the web based transport management solution provided by Software as a Service (SaaS) provider Deltion. CNO is a pay-as-you-go service which provides rich functionality without the need to invest in software and IT infrastructure.
Richard Charnley, MD of Cumbia Logistics, explaining why he chose the CNO service explained: “We offer a very competitive service throughout the UK and it is essential that we offer a high quality competitive service for our customers delivery and collection needs. The CNO service allows us to guarantee this quality and achieve competitiveness in the marketplace. We have an extensive fleet of delivery and trunking vehicles and, working closely with our partners, we can now offer an unrivalled service.”
Mr Charnley added that among the key benefits Cumbria Logistics gains from using the CNO service is the ability to provide track and trace, even when they use sub-contractors and partners. Their partners and sub-contractors scan in PoD details, which are immediately visible to customers. They also gain complete visibility of an order regardless of who is delivering it - partners, networks, themselves, sub-contractors.
“The service is literally available at all times via the Internet and is accessible to our management, our customers and our network partners, anytime and from anywhere. When dealing with us we make sure that customer needs are being taken care of, and to achieve this our trained staff are pro-active in their approach, so that we inform you if there's a problem - not the other way around. CNO provides us with a pending problem alert service which means that we can identify and rectify potential service hiccoughs before they happen.
Piyush Shah, Chief Executive Officer of Deltion, - transport management - says that the value of goods moving through the CNO network now exceeds £250 million annually. The products moved are for all industry sectors, including consumer goods to heavy industry and hazardous chemical materials. “Transport and logistics companies have realised that they cannot compete without providing world class customer-facing systems to back up their logistics services” Mr`Shah said. “The biggest players in the logistics industry have invested tens of millions of pounds to develop or purchase licences for these solutions and this is beyond the reach of most companies.
“The CNO service provides the same – and in some cases much better – functionality and because it is a pay-as-you-go software service, there's no need to invest large sums in licences or infrastructure” Mr Shah added.
