SHOULD FRASER BROWN SEE AN OSTEOPATH?
Following stories of Gordon Brown’s four-month-old son Fraser being diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, Stuart Korth from the Osteopathic Centre for Children discusses how osteopathy can help the condition
Stuart Korth:
‘It is widely known that osteopathy treats a number of standard aches and pains; from back and neck pain to migraines and sports injuries. However, at the Osteopathic Centre for Children we have been supporting patients with a number of difficult conditions including cerebral palsy and cystic fibrosis to great success.
‘Osteopathy most notably helps cystic fibrosis sufferers with their breathing. There's clinical evidence that osteopathy can increase the breathing capacity and support the nervous system through ensuring that the rib cage and spine are functioning correctly, with all muscles working properly, which in turn influence the blood supply and helps control the lungs.
‘Although Osteopathy does not claim to cure patients with cystic fibrosis, treatment has proved to reduce chest infections, help the patient breathe better and also support the digestive system’
