Team Building – It is not Rocket Science!
Fresh Tracks ensures team building isn’t rocket science with the launch of a new model making team activity!
To combat the credit crunch Fresh Tracks, a company that runs team development programmes, have launched a new way to develop better teams. Presenting Rocket Scientists – a Rocket car making, team building activity! This new activity involves teams assembling and decorating the fastest model rocket cars together to develop stronger working relationships.
Fresh Tracks are a team development company who work with business teams of between 12 and 1200 to create better workplaces. Prof Alex Edmans, Professor of Finance at Wharton School of Business found that happy companies delivered an average 14% return between 1998 and 2005 compared with a market average of just 6%. When a team has fun, it becomes more effective and relationships develop to be stronger, affecting creativity levels and the ownership of a team’s delivery. Fresh Tracks recommend the use of their facilitator during team events, who has been trained to examine the way teams behave and discuss specific issues with teams which may be affecting them,.
Fresh Tracks have launched this new activity, called Rocket Scientists, so that businesses can train and develop away from the conventional conference room. They divide companies into teams of approximately five. Teams are then given briefing sheets outlining the kit and equipment available, details of costs and how they can win funds. They then have a planning period during which they can check resources and decide on their strategy. A building period then follows before the rocket engines are fitted and the cars are put to the test in head to head races. As well as speed, the criteria for winning includes beauty and artistic flair as teams design and create flags, hats and t-shirts ready for the cat walk with prizes going to the winning team. These cars really move and can reach speeds of up to 100mph!
With the additional support of a facilitator, who previous to team events will contact team leaders to discuss the aims and objectives of the chosen event, Fresh Tracks can provide tailor-made training to ensure each team gets the most out of the day.
Tom Vaughton, Motivational expert for Fresh Tracks, explains that, “at this time of possible economic slow down we are really focusing on the fact that Fresh Tracks doesn't just offer fun team building with no long term benefits. We believe that Fresh Tracks fills a niche in the market by offering team building events that bridge the gap between traditional classroom based training and the more physical outdoor team events. We link the learning back into the workplace and therefore offer a real return on investment.”
This kind of team building activity is important more now than ever - with the credit crunch affecting company loyalty and paranoia over possible job loss creating a worried workforce; team building is a proven technique which improves employee retention and increases creativity and moral within companies. Create better workplaces with the new rocket car making, team building event.
