30 YEARS YOUNG FOR IT SECURITY SPECIALIST WICK HILL

Woking, Surrey - 6th June 06: Value added distributor and security specialist Wick Hill Group is celebrating its 30th anniversary in the IT business this year. Group chairman and company founder Ian Kilpatrick, said: “we are very proud of the fact that we are still going strong after all this time in a volatile industry. We think it’s due to the close working relationship we have with our channel partners. We’ve always been a distributor who has put the emphasis on value add. We’ve also worked hard to anticipate trends and to help our resellers grow emerging markets.”

Kilpatrick also cites three key elements in the company’s success – a great team at Wick Hill, excellent and loyal channel partners, and a small portfolio of quality suppliers.

Other factors in Wick Hill’s success include a high degree of sales, marketing and technical support to reseller customers, and a training division which provides training and services enabling channel partners to maximise service revenues. Wick Hill also only sells indirect, ensuring channel clarity.

The company has stuck to the business principle of looking after existing customers and Kilpatrick points out, with satisfaction, that the company has worked with several of its channel partners for well over 20 years.

As well as a close working relationship with channel partners, Wick Hill has also had a pivotal relationship with some vendors, helping these vendors establish themselves in the UK market. WatchGuard is a prime example of this. Wick Hill worked with the company from its first steps in the UK in 1997, up to its current leading position in the marketplace. In fact, Wick Hill was recently appointed WatchGuard’s ‘Worldwide Distributor of the Year’.

Looking towards the future, Kilpatrick anticipates more of the same formula which has worked well for the company so far. “We will continue to look for opportunities which add value to services and products for our resellers,” he said, “helping them to maximise their margins and profits. Strategically we will continue to focus on delivering leading edge infrastructure solutions for our enterprise and SME partners.”
