PUBLIC AIM FOR PITCH PERFECTION IN NEW TV CONCEPT
More than 600 people have already staked their claim to change the course of Television, thanks to a groundbreaking project initiated by the man that Channel 4 refers to as a ‘creative hero’.
100's of creative minds from all over the world have the chance to pitch their ideas for TV shows at an event being held in London on the 1st of March, in a bid to see their concepts become a reality.
Financial backing and industry support are being offered to the hopefuls, all of whom share the belief that the public should ultimately decide the future of television.
Mark Bowness, the founder of social experiment Tribewanted, topic of the recent BBC2 documentary ‘Paradise or Bust’, has pledged to embrace the Internet community and change Television for the better. HaveYouGotTheNerve.tv is barely a month old, but has already gained huge praise from the Internet community, and is the platform from which Television of the future is expected to develop.
Major broadcasters are certainly taking notice, and are interested in what Have You Got The Nerve? TV has to offer. So far, meetings have been arranged with commissioning editors at the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, all concerned about the developing audience shift from TV to the Web.
Mark was asked to give his thoughts to a BBC conference put together by Mark Thompson, Director General of the BBC who is bringing his top 150 employees together in order to discuss the future of the media in the UK. Mark was asked to share the 'Have You Got The Nerve'? TV vision and offer his opinion as to where TV is heading.
Mark had this to say,
“It is common knowledge that TV Channels are concerned about the audience shifting from TV to the web. I believe that the reason for this is that the audience are more creative than they are given credit for, and so have moved towards the Internet which gives them a facility to release their creativity.”
He continued, “TV Channels have failed to see that they have played a significant role in this shift because the general public are unable to release their creativity via the means of traditional broadcasting because it is a slow moving beast. The result? The audience flocks to the internet.”
Graphic designers, cameramen and even aspiring stunt-men are amongst the members of the public flocking to pitch their ideas to Mark.
