Meals with Appeals
In brief :
Paul Rankin and his bid to boost the quality of food in nursing homes across the UK follows on from incentives by the likes of Jamie Oliver in the nation’s schools.
Shropshire based Morris Care has embraced Rankin’s move and recently appointed Michelin starred chef Paul Ratcliffe in a bid to bring the highest quality food to its residents.
Full release:
The quality of food is at the top of the nation’s agenda with famous chefs such as Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey gracing our TV screens on a daily basis. Much emphasis has recently been placed on the quality of school meals but equally it is essential to provide wholesome meals for our elderly.
A national campaign for improvements in the quality of food served in the UK’s residential homes is being backed by celebrity chef Paul Rankin. Paul runs a successful restaurant and business in his native Belfast and is a regular face on a number of TV cookery shows, including ‘Ready Steady Cook’. Paul believes that healthy food is essential across all generations and is eager to encourage care homes to move away from using convenience meals and ingredients and serve ‘real food’.
Morris Care, noted for providing quality care for the elderly in Shropshire, believe that the provision of freshly cooked meals and specialist diets is as much a mark of good care provision as excellent nursing. It has recently appointed a top quality chef at its care home, Corbrook Court which is located just outside the picturesque village of Audlem.
Paul Ratcliffe recently took up the position of Head Chef having previously worked in a Michelin starred restaurant in central France and catering for 2,750 passengers on a Royal Caribbean Cruise Liner. With an impressive list of culinary awards, Paul now provides the residents at Corbrook Court with a nutritious balanced diet and caters for those with special dietary requirements.
Chief Executive of Morris Care, Sue Humphries, underlined the importance of a healthy menu: “Providing good food has well documented physical health benefits but our residents here at Corbrook Court also look forward to mealtimes, when they not only enjoy the great selection of food on offer but also experience something of a social occasion. We are delighted to have gained such a fantastic chef”
Residents enjoy on a daily basis, a menu which includes lamb cutlets with rosemary and redcurrant gravy or salmon supreme and many enjoy a glass of sherry before their main meal.
