WEEKEND OF SUN MAKES BRITS DITCH FORIEGN HOLIDAYS

Search statistics have revealed that one British weekend of hot weather has triggered nearly ¾ of a million searches for UK holidays from UK citizens, with St Ives in Cornwall leading the way and overseas holidays taking a back seat.

A shoppers-revenge website has today revealed that the recent hot UK weekend triggered nearly ¾ of a million searches for “cheap UK holidays”, in comparison to less than 100,000 for overseas holidays.

MyVoucherCodes.co.uk search statistics show that the top five UK holiday searches were dominated by cities and towns from the South West:

1.St Ives (Cornwall)
2.The Cotswolds
3.Newquay
4.Brighton
5.Bournemouth

In an unusual twist, traditional British holiday resorts such as Blackpool, Southend on Sea and Skegness did not feature highly on the list. According to the statistics this is only the second time so far in 2008 that foreign holidays and resorts have been beaten in web searches by people researching their next holiday location specifically in the UK.
