Former Samsung Site Branded To Appeal To Business

Chris Musgrave, MD of Wynyard Ltd, the company responsible for redeveloping the former Samsung site at Wynyard, today revealed the marketing name for the scheme, as he unveiled new roadside advertising along the A19.

The scheme will be marketed as Wynyard One. This name was chosen to reflect Wynyard Ltd’s determination to ensure that the scheme becomes THE premier location for business in the Tees Valley area. With its superb location, high quality buildings and existing infrastructure Wynyard One is set to become a world-class business park.

In addition to the new roadside advertising, Wynyard Ltd has also produced a newsletter that outlines developments at the site since the company began its involvement in February. This follows last week’s announcement of the choice of Priority Sites as lead developer on the site and their plans to start speculative development from January 2005.

In addition to Priority Sites, Wynyard Ltd has pulled together a strong team to assist with the development and marketing of Wynyard One. This includes the expertise of property agents Storeys:ssp and King Sturge who have excellent local knowledge, great contacts and significant experience in successfully marketing mixed-use schemes such as Wynyard One.

Wynyard One is currently going through a planning process and renowned master planners EDAW have been selected to work on this in conjunction with a wide range of public and private sector organisations to ensure the scheme meets the needs of both business and the North East region. EDAW come with an extensive track record of planning success across many major development and regeneration projects and is part of the team involved in producing the master plan for the proposed 2012 Olympics in East London.

Chris Musgrave said, “I am delighted to be unveiling the new name and branding for this site. We have put a lot of time and effort into building the team and creating the right image for this scheme. We believe that this effort will pay off when we start attracting businesses and associated jobs to Wynyard One. Our goal is to replace the jobs lost at Samsung and attract many more besides. The potential for this scheme is huge and we have been getting a lot of interest from business before we have even started formal marketing.”

The Wynyard One site totals 207 acres of which 47 acres have been fully developed, 80 acres are fully serviced yet undeveloped and a further 80 acres remain unserviced at present. There are three existing high quality buildings on site.

The two former Samsung factories provide 125,000 and 165,000 square feet respectively of high quality manufacturing space, which will be let as individual units or sub-divided as required. There's also 42,000 square feet of office and conference space.
