There were two reasons for the dedicated staff at the Ragdale Hall health spa to let their hair down this week. Not only is it 35 years since the health spa first opened its doors, but Ragdale Hall has just been named as one of the best UK health spas by readers of the Sunday Times Travel Magazine.

The 35th anniversary of Ragdale Hall health spa became an even greater celebration after it was revealed that the hydro health spa has won another award.
Discerning readers of the Sunday Times Travel Magazine voted Ragdale Hall as Highly Commended in the Best UK Health Spa category. Thousands of readers shared their best, and worst, travel experiences from the last 12 months as part of the 2008 Readers Awards.
The magazine summed up their responses by saying: "Ragdale Hall scores highly for its vintage setting. It is the oldest and most characterful – Fantastic therapists."
Readers who answered the Sunday Times survey have collectively visited 108 countries, flown with 46 airlines and stayed in 1772 hotels in the last year, so their advice is definitely worth taking.
Ragdale Hall has won numerous awards since it opened its doors as a hydro health spa in June 1973. At the time, Ragdale Hall promised guests that they would enjoy "a staff of 80 to look after your every comfort", adding "Gentle jogging, exercise and yoga sessions, together with the clean fresh air of Leicestershire will act like a tonic and help you sleep like a baby."
There have been quite a few changes in the past 35 years. For example, there are now over 500 staff to ensure you feel relaxed and serene throughout your stay at the hydro spa.
As technology has evolved, so has the range of therapies offered at the Ragdale Hall health spa. Facilities include the acclaimed Thermal Spa, opened in November 2007. This haven of relaxation features a Candle Pool, indoor and outdoor Waterfall Pool and a series of heat and water experiences.
