CAMELOT'S NEW ROLLER COASTER HITS UK'S HIGHEST G FORCE!
Camelot Theme Park’s opening of Knightmare, the UK’s most eagerly awaited new rollercoaster of 2007, is just weeks away.
Huge levels of excitement are guaranteed for thrill seekers of all ages as Knightmare will subject riders to more g force than any other rollercoaster in the UK, reaching an extreme high of 5 g.
Construction of the new £3 million ride, the biggest single investment ever made by owners Prime Resorts, is nearing completion. The ride is expected to open on June 23, 2007.
Andy Hine, MBE, Chairman of the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain, said: “This ride is something special. It is highly rated by roller coaster fans, not just for its height and speed, but due to the fact that it’s a really intense ride with non-stop action for the whole two minutes. It is a classic roller coaster, one of only two of its kind in the world, that’s guaranteed to leave a long-lasting impression.”
One of Knightmare’s many highlights is a mid-ride plunge nicknamed ‘the psycho drop’, after which riders are subject to extreme g forces.
Roy Page, Prime Resorts’ Chief Executive, said: “We expect Knightmare to attract many 1000's of visitors to Camelot who have never been before. It will provide a world class ride experience unlike anything else in the UK and is a fantastic new addition to the park.”
Knightmare is over half a mile long, full of twists, turns and steep drops and lasts just under two minutes. The highest point is 87 feet and it reaches speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour. The ride comprises three carriages, each seating 14 people. A height restriction of 1.3 metres will apply.
Knightmare will be located alongside some of the other most popular attractions at Camelot, including Excalibur Two, The Rack and The Whirlwind.
